If you are missing a tooth, its absence can impair your ability to chew food, slur your speech, or make you feel self-conscious about your appearance.

One of the most effective methods of replacing your tooth is to have your dentist, Dr. Mark Miller, install a dental bridge. A dental bridge in Antioch, California, is two crowns and one false tooth fused together. The bridge will be mounted on a pair of abutments that are formed by the two closest neighboring teeth.

At your first appointment, your dentist will examine the two neighboring teeth to make sure they are sound. Then, he will use a drill to remove the majority of the enamel layer on each tooth, creating a pair of abutments that will later anchor your bridge in place. An impression will then be made of the area. The impression will then be sent to the dental lab to serve as a guide for custom crafting your bridge. At the end of the first appointment, your dentist will secure a hard, plastic, temporary crown over each abutment to protect them.

We will schedule your second appointment once the dental lab has completed your permanent bridge. During this appointment, we will remove the temporary crowns and cement the permanent bridge in place.

If you have recently had a tooth extracted, you should call Miller & Simarro Dental Care at 925-754-6020 to explore your replacement options.
